The 2019 Zimbabwean Music Festival will be held on the campus of Western Oregon University August 8-11. This “everyone-can-participate” festival offers three days of workshops, 15 hours of free afternoon concerts, an African Marketplace and ticketed evening concerts. Valuing education as well as performance, Zimfest attracts Zimbabwean music and culture bearers from around the world. Workshops are available on everything from basic Shona drumming to traditional dance to the ancient sounds of mbira and the irresistible, effervescent marimba. Zimfest 2019 includes a one-time only workshop/presentation on Sustainable Agri-cultures in Zimbabwe led by Dr P. Ngwenya.
