Name: Out of Darkness Suicide Prevention and Awareness Walk
    Date: May 17, 2019
    Time: 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM PDT
    Event Description:
At the core, this walk is about providing connection, community, hope, and healing, especially for a topic that broadly affects our community yet is swept under the rug. Wellness Advocacy Group, a student club at WOU, is hosting the event in partnership with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to not only raise awareness and provide hope but also to support local events and national research into suicide prevention. The event will offer a local health fair, a WOU alumni speaking about his experience with depression and suicide, an honor bead ceremony, and finally, a mile walk. While this event is hosted by the university, we want it to be a community event where folks from Falls City, Dallas, and other communities can come find connection and hope!
    Location:
Main Street Park in Monmouth, OR
    Date/Time Information:
Festivities start at 4 pm with a health fair and music. At 5 pm, we will have a WOU alumni talk about his experience with depression and suicide. Before the walk starts at 5:30, we will have an honor bead ceremony where folks get to show how they are affected by suicide and depression.
